No 5632 c. 1930s Pin Box/Darner: This is unusual and I haven't seen one exactly like this before and I can't find anything similar in my reference books. Feels and looks like Bakelite but doesn't test as such. There is no damage and it is in excellent condition but all the pins have gone from the paper. Inside the lid are the molded words "Taylers Pin Box and Darner - Regd - Made in England". It is 5.5cm high and 4.5cm wide. Price: $68.00
No. 5169 c. 1880s Mauchlineware Two Piece Darner/Needle case: This sycamore wood darner has a Stirling Castle transfer with some interesting verse/descriptions. It is in very good condition with slight chipping to the edge of the mushroom top. It holds together firmly and is 12cm long when closed and 7.5cm in diameter. Price: $425.00.
No. 914 c. 1910/20s Glove Darner: Black enamel painted wood. The double ends were used for darning holes in the different sized fingers and thumbs of gloves. 11.5cm long and in excellent condition. SOLD
No. 1913 c. 1930s/40s Semi Foot Form Plastic Darner: Shown in Muller's "Darn It" book this semi foot form darner has a handle that can be used to darn gloves. The different coloured halves were used for light and dark stockings. Marked "Made in USA" it is 15cm long and in excellent condition. Price: $70.00.
No. 1857 c.1920s USA Egg Shaped Darner: Covered in a marbled enamelled paint this darner appears unused and is in excellent condition. 14.3cm long. Price: $110.00.
No. 2224 c. 1930s/40s German Patent Darner: German made with a DRGM number - 989116. This patent stocking darner is egg shaped and made of wood. The wire hook darning tool slides out of a central cavity and can be used for stocking repair. The groove along the side makes it easier for the tool to be used to repair a run or hole.The egg is 7.5cm long and the tool is 9.2cm long. In excellent condition. Price: $65.00.
No. 4349 Vintage Wooden Darner: Heel and Toe darner of unknown origin. Made of unvarnished (probably lightly oiled) wood. 15cm long and in excellent condition. Price: $38.00.
No.913 c. 1890/1900 Child's Sterling Handled Darner: USA Child Sized (to mimic Mother) ebonised egg on small sterling silver repousse handle (marked Sterling). In very good condition - very little use. 11.5cm long. Price: $185.00.
No.4984 c. 1910/20s Celluloid Darning Egg: Darning egg on handle made in the USA. Excellent condition. 15cm long. Shown in Wayne Muller's "Darn It" book. Price: $56.00.
No. 900 c. 1900/1910 Sterling Handled Egg Shaped Darner: Made in the USA, where they used egg shaped darners as opposed to the Continental mushroom shape. The handle is marked sterling and is surmounted by an ebonised (i.e. painted black!) wooden egg. Some wear to the egg but otherwise in very good condition. 14.5cm long. Price: $145.00.
No. 4675 c.1900 USA Auto-Knitter Accessory: Although not originally made as a darner - this accessory for the "Auto Knitter" by the Auto Knitting Company of Buffalo, New York was frequently converted for use as a stocking darner. Its original use was as an aid for knitting socks. It is 16.5cm long. Some of the wire tips are slightly bent and there are a few little spots of verdigris on the brass which I have left but could be cleaned off easily. Otherwise very good condition. It is shown in Wayne Muller's book on page 151. Price: $98.00
