No. 5481 c.1880s Carved Austrian Wooden Needlecase: This very cute needlecase is in the shape of a squirrel eating a nut whilst mounted on a pedestal. 10.5cm high it is in excellent condition. Price: $248.00.
No. 5262 c. 1870s/80s Mauchlineware Needle Case: Sycamore wood with a transfer of Stirling Castle. Verse reads "Ye Towers within whose circuit dread. A Douglas by his Sovereign bled." 7.5cm x 6cm. In very good used condition but the silk lining and velvet spine are a little faded. Price: $365.00.
No. 5185 c. 1860s/80s Tartanware Needle Packet holder: Consisting of tartan printed paper over a wooden base, the holder opens by pivoting on a rivet at the top. The name of the tartan is on the front - "Prince Charlie". The holder measures 6.5cm x 4cm and is in excellent used condition except for two very small scratches on the front. Contains some contemporary needle packets. Price: $395.00.
No. 5137 c. 1870s Avery "Quadruple" Needlecase: Similar to examples shown in the Horowitz book this Victorian brass needlecase has inscribed on it "The Eclectic Needlecase". This quadruple variant was made for Milward Needles and bears their name and crest along with the Avery Redditch details. All four push up compartments work and it is in excellent condition. 7cm long and 3.2cm wide. Price: $495.00.
No. 1546 c.1820s/30s Ivory Needlecase: This beautifully tapered ivory needlecase has a visible grain on the top half. Probably part of a larger boxed set it screws together well and is in excellent used condition. 7.8cm long when closed. Price: $145.00.
No. 151 c. 1890s Small Bone Needlecase: 6.5cm long with an undamaged thread. This needlecase is in excellent used condition. Price: $60.00.
No. 4376 c. 1880s English Painted Wood Needlecase: Similar one shown in Thompson's "Sewing Tools and Trinkets". It is 7.5 cm long when closed and is in very good used condition. Price: $55.00.
No. 4662 c.1860s/70s Victorian Vegetable Ivory Double Ended Needlecase: Double ended needlecase that has been nicely carved. There is no damage but one of the screws has been carved over a rough patch in the nut so a little bark skin shows when opened. 7.5cm long. Price: $285.00.
No. 4460 c. 1880s Beaded Needlecase: Glass beads over a wooden form. This needlecase is in excellent condition with no missing beads or damage. 8.5cm long. Price: $325.00.
No. 2943 c. 1871 William Avery & Sons "Butterfly" design needlecase: This brass figural needlecase (known as an "Avery") was patented in 1871 by Avery and has his company name and location "Redditch" marked underneath. Under its wings it has room for 4 needle packets (the sizes are marked - 6, 7, 8 and 9). It is 12.5cm wide. In excellent condition. Price: $985.00.
